FE Art scuffle piece, OC is peachiehambo's!
The art scuffle is a fun event, would love to draw more for it but my hands and schedule are not cooperating LMAO
(Talk about styluses and presets under the cut)
Somehow the topic of styluses came up in the server and I was accused by my friend slash relative slash allowance giver, slotumn, as owning way too many styluses...
...I do have six styluses, and that is probably too many considering I only ever use the Wacom One LMAO
But in my defense... The default S-Pen came with the tablet and the BOOX stylus isn't something I got myself, it came with the BOOX that my parents gave me so I would study harder withbit. And I am not studying harder at all but that's beside the point right?
Anyway my personal ranking of the styluses goes like this:
Wacom One. It feels a little cheap because it's all plastic, but it still feels the best to use, plus it has a button I can use for color picker! My default drawing pen.
Staetdler Jumbo. It's nice and solid and ergonomic! Too bad that it doesn't have a button for the color picking but it's comfortable enough to make up for it. I take it with me when I go outside.
Lamy Al-Star. Comfortable in your hand, looks nice (important), and has a button, but... It's the cap that's the problem, which is ironic considering that's what I initially bought it for. There's too much weight on the back of the pen if you put the cap on that side, so it's better to just leave the cap off entirely while you draw. But if I do that it makes me think, then what was the point of getting a stylus with a cap...? So I end up not using it much LOL.
Default S-Pen. Not as comfortable as the above three, but it can be attached right on the Galaxy Tab, so I can always carry it around as a spare.
Staedtler Norris. The Jumbo is better than this one in pretty much every way... It's too long and too thin! Long styluses just don't feel good to draw or write with for extended periods of time, short and chunky styluses are so much more ergonomic IMO.
Onyx BOOX. Not only is it too long, it's too heavy so I can't use it for long! I don't even use it with the tablet it came with.
Which might not mean much because I don't use that tablet as much as I should, but still~~
My Krita brushes! For inking I used to only have brushes with basic low pressure = thin, high pressure = thick settings, but these are slightly thicker at the lowest pressure to simulate ink blobbing(?) at the beginning of the stroke.
Crosshatching brushes! These are super fun, I downloaded and tweaked them with monochrome manga in mind but maybe I can use them for pixel art too 🤔
Finally, the screentones! All at 600 DPI. I know that I don't need to use screentones instead of grayscale for manga because printing technology improved, but... Screentones look cooler! There's romanticism in emulating techniques from traditional media! (Please ignore that I said I don't like digital art software trying too hard to emulate traditional media in another post LOL)
