Hello! I don't really know how Dreamwidth works, but I spent a lot of time making the journal look pretty so it feels like a waste to not use it!

I draw, mainly for my FE3H OTPs, Lysiclaude and Shezleth. I also like Hololive, especially Advent and Justice. My kamioshis are FuwaMoco πŸΎπŸ’™πŸ©· and Raora 🐱.

Other fandoms I might draw and blog about from time to time: Wuthering Waves, Girls' Frontline, Astral Chain, Koroshi Ai, 100GFs, NigoRiri Gunslinger Girl, Unwind Dystology

I also like to assemble girlplas, maybe I'll blog about them here?

The great thing about Hololive and other franchises in this post is that there's lots of official merch, so I don't have to hunt for fanmade merch... The downside is that it drains my wallet.

I need to start using this blog more! Especially to talk about art stuff!

I don't know how many other people look at this blog, but having more art gadget reviews online never hurts, right? So without further ado, here's my review of Pilot Dr. Grip Digital EMR Stylus, and TourBox Lite.

(Disclaimer: I'm not being paid for any of this. I wish I was but a lowbie like me can't expect that πŸ˜”)

I actually knew about Krita's layer styles for a long time and used it to do outlines of speech bubbles for comics... But for some reason I never thought to utilize it for shading and highlights until now.

Which is weird, considering that I was already abusing SAI's watercolor edge effect over ten years ago. Young Denpring learned about digital art and immediately abused effects and gimmicks... Some things never change, huh?

...Point is, layer effects are useful for softening (or defining) the edges of shadows and giving a nice glow to highlights! Combined with filters, you, too, can distract people from your lack of fundamentals with shiny colors!

(Don't do that, try to learn the fundamentals correctly if you can LOL)

Happy New Year! One of my resolutions this year is to draw more manga and try making physical copies of it, so I decided to make grayscale guides(?) of the Golden Deer and Shezleth for my own reference.

Referencing this arcle, I tried to stick to 10/30/50/70% gray for base colors and +10 darkness for the shadows. It worked out pretty well so far, but the real challenge is... Shivers Timeskip outfits...

Really the difficult part about grayscale is that you can only use lightness to portray all the different colors instead of hue, saturation, and lightness, and it's not as simple as just converting a colored image to grayscale... For example, the bright yellow on Claude's clothes might technically be darker than his beige timeskip outfit, but I portray it as white in grayscale to reflect the high saturation making it look very bright.

And speaking of his timeskip outfit... (More rambling about printing under the cut)

FE Art scuffle piece, OC is peachiehambo's!

The art scuffle is a fun event, would love to draw more for it but my hands and schedule are not cooperating LMAO

But can you really call her a FE3H OC if she doesn't have academy and war phase designs and doesn't get involved with canon events in Fodlan...? Oh well.

I tried experimenting with pen settings on Krita and the screentone! My problem with default dot halftones are that they're too consistent, but sometimes I want a little noise... And I found out I can get that effect with a fill pattern set to overlay mode!

The pen I used for both pieces simulate some quirks of traditional ink pens. Not that you can really tell when my lines are so messy LOL, linework has never been my strength.

I thought, why not start off this... Blog? I guess this is a blog? With some stuff about art, since that's what my main online presence is about!

Here's what I currently use for illustrating:

  • Tablet: Galaxy Tab 8 Plus + Paper texture screen protector + Height and angle adjustable tablet stand
  • Pen: Wacom One pen + Metal nib
  • Shortcut remote: 8bitdo micro Bluetooth controller
  • Software: Krita, LayerPaint, IbisPaint

Krita's the best, it runs kind of slow/heavy sometimes, but even though it's beta on Android I think it beats most other art apps on the platform by a long shot! Once it gets the text wrapping feature it's over for IbisPaint, I will have no reason to use it anymore LOL

I also have custom Vertical workspace, Landscape workspace, and Animation workspace configurations on Krita, depending on which orientations I use my tablet in. I'm really happy I got the vertical configuration figured out, it makes working on manga pages much easier!

(Me talking about gadgets I can't afford yet under the cut)
